Absolutely my favorite place for sushi. I love the place, the ambiance, the seating, the service, the food is always fresh. However, the last time I was there I had a bit of situation. I called one day earlier to make a reservation at 7 and requested a table by the window. The host said that he can guarantee a table if we leave by 9. I confirmed. When we arrived on the day, the host started leading us to a table inside. I said I had requested a table by the window. He then launched into this long explanation about giving the table by the window if we can leave by 9. He took too long explaining and asking me for guarantees. I thought this was unneeded. That evening we finished at 8:45 and were preparing to leave, when the same host walked over to me and informed me that the guest who had booked the table at 9 had arrived early and he was asking me and my group of 7 to vacate the table immediately - and possibly move elsewhere in the restaurant if we wished. The whole experience and this person's actions really left a bad taste in my mouth. This was a host who was clearly stating to me that he had more important clients to take care of and wasted a good amount of my time - when I should be entertaining my guests. Of course, I will keep going back because everything else is so great :-) But Management should take note. |

I really can't remember when was the last time I ate that much! Been ages since I visited Yoshi and honestly I was counting the days... Walking into its darkish atmosphere the place just hit me again as if I was walking in for the first time, it was a quiet night, but then it was early evening still... One shocking thing I saw was that Yoshi is starting to attract a lot of youngsters (high school kids maybe)! Having our order taken I asked for 18 pieces of Maki and a cone of Temaki, of course Kani Salad was my starter after warming up on an order of edamame!! The food was really good, towards the end I felt my stomach really growing and sensed the need to maybe loosen my belt!! All that merry food and all that time being away from Yoshi I also had to order their fried bananas! And knowing that I might be full by the time I get to the dessert I made my order all at once :) Service was really good, the guys at Yoshi are always professional and really make the place feel like home. Thumbs up Yoshi! |

I like to argue, but I will NEVER argue with anyone who says "let's go to Yoshi". Good service. We were waiting for a couple of more people to arrive for more than an hour but at no time were we pushed to make an order. Although at midnight they started cleaning empty tables so we took that as a sign to leave! Stuck to my standard Flying Dragon, Kamakura, Tokyo and added a Zumo Maki (can't recall which one). Yoshi keeps its perfect score in my books. |

Since I became a regular customer at most of atico outlets, I usually have dinners there. Last week I heard about the hungry hour at Yoshi, so one day after work we decided to give it a try, and it was awesome... no need to talk about the service, which is always perfect there; the ambiance was very nice, not over crowded, but still many tables were full and new people were still arriving, we loved to have a quiet meal after a hectic day at work. The food now was great, we ordered the famous crunchy salmon salad, kani salad, shrimp rangoon, and a variety of the perfectly made makis, and everything would be 10/10 rated by any “sushi lover” eater. And at the end of this spectacular meal we got the cheaque with 30% discount for the hungry hour really a must try for everybody. |

I was delighted to see that for once a local Japanese restaurant was venturing further to foods other than sushi and teriyaki. Today I found out that Yoshi added udon to their menu.
I started with the crunchy salmon salad and was surprised to see that the portion was significantly less than usual and had a little too much dressing. Nevertheless it was still quite good and the salmon tasted fresh.
Then came the udon and I immediately tasted the broth hoping that it would be somewhat close to the authentic taste. I was quite surprised at how almost authentic the broth tasted. The problem was that the broth was too strong, kind of made it feel heavy rather than the light broth it should be. It also was too sweet. I think perhaps if they added more light dashi, it would have balanced the broth better.
The prawn tempura that was served on the udon tasted great – light and crunchy from the outside.
Now here’s the disappointing part. There was far too much spring onions on it that it was hard to avoid. Also, for some reason there was a generous serving of the crispy tempura batter which just ended up being a soggy mess in the broth and created a pile of mush. The worst part was that the udon was not nearly as thick as the authentic noodle and it was far too overcooked. It was so overcooked that it fell apart quickly when I tried to eat with chopsticks. Authentic udon is a little thicker and has a slight chewy consistency when cooked al dente. I’d also suggest that the chef looks into adding different toppings other than the pile of crispy tempura and spring onions.
Despite the above, it certainly was a good effort for the first udon in a Jordanian menu.
