Today I went out with friends visiting me from abroad, my initial booking and the confirmation I gave was for six persons but our way some of my friends hesitated so I decided to told the host upon my arrival that we will be 4 instead of 6 (out of courtesy), the host was not happy by the news and he escorted us to a very unstable table by the corner next to the busboy clearance area (Naughty clients corner), 5 minutes later we called the head waiter telling him that we will be 6 again if can move us to a bigger table so he went to check and get back to us saying once your guests arrive we will move you “maybe to double check that we are telling the truth” am not sure. The place was not that full or packed and he could have moved us easily to another table but maybe we haven’t finished our time out yet. Never mind the rest of the group showed up and we asked again that we need bigger table and they escorted us to another table which was a nicer than the first one.
We actually liked the atmosphere and the fresh colors they are using the lamps and the greenery pots hanged around the place was super and I remembered my grandma's old house where she used to hang her pots similarly. The waiter was so attentive to our table I have to clap my hands to Ismail I figured out his name although he is not wearing a name tag.
Despite I voted before on meal advisors website that am against forcing a cover charge during Ramadan but I paid it at the Q Yard with a smile as I got in return a very tasty balilah & Turmus but the foul wasn't that good and it gives you the impression that it's canned not fresh but it was ok. the dessert also was so yummy so I can't complaint paying un justified cover charge.
But I would like to address two points to the management of the Q yard the first one is I saw a lot expat waitresses even though we have a lot local young unemployed men and woman who are willing to work with such organization and am sure nothing can stop ATICO from investing is some unemployed young local labor and train them to be a good waiters / waitresses or any other position. The second issue is when I received our bill and to my surprise there was a mistake in the cover charge as we were 6 and they charged us for 7 persons instead, and by the way it's not the first time I face this in restaurants in Amman as it became very common as now a person needs to double check his bill before paying. People in Amman should open up their eyes and open the calculator feature in their mobiles and re calculate the bill regardless you are inviting friends or sharing it as out of 10 I give it 4 if not 5.I faced it in various places so I decided to speak it out now.
I believe someone has to look into this and again I don't mean the Q yard only it’s a general note for restaurant owners to seriously consider. Again Ismail apologized for the mistake which am sure he didn’t do but the apology will not stop me from checking my bill next time again and again regardless of the place

Will I go back…. Yes sure I will go back and yes sure I will say hi to Ismail but I will check my bill again

Ramadan Nights @ Qyard!!

So far I’ve been there 3 times during the past week (Tuesday, Friday & Sunday)… I loved it..and I am recommending it to everyone.

FEEL & THEME:
I usually don’t like places that are very ramadani since they are usually overpriced, crowded and very smoky.. I think everybody is bored from the usual pure Ramadani feel….it’s time for change..
The best way to describe the theme of Qyard this year is “Candy to the eyes”!! Very happy colorful comfy gypsy theme. Each night that I’ve been there, it was a full house, but the tables are set up in a very comfy spacious manner and you do not feel the smoke of the arageel.
The music played gives a nice feel to the place and is played at a decent volume.

SERVICE:
Very good service. The waiters are very friendly and attentive. There was always someone ready to take our order and another to clear out the ashtrays or empty dishes.
*One of the nights we were served fatoosh salad, but we were not given plates to eat it with. So it stayed on the table untouched until we requested plates later on.

FOOD:
-Manakeesh: the manakeesh were served fresh and warm.
-Falafel: Yummy hot falafel.
-Fool Mudames: homemade fool (too much garlic though).
-Balila, Fool & Turmos are a must on every table to keep the ramadani touch
-Desert: 3awameh, Tamrieh, Arayef & Asabe3 Zainab…all served fresh and warm…Yummy, Yummy….specifically the 3awameh.

I went to The Q-Yard with a friend to have the iftar meal yesterday. The weather was nice, a bit windy and the crowd wasn't bad at all taking into consideration that most of the people were fasting and not themselves at all.
Tables were prepared for a nice iftar meal with little bowls of salad, homus and labaned, three different kinds of juices on the side, a basket of bread and a bottle of water with some dates of course. Right before the time of breaking the fast waiters were going around the tables with two different kinds of soup which was great except for the fact that by the time all tables were served and its time to eat the soup was cold. One way to fix this is to have a candle or a small stove under the soup while being served.
The buffet consisted of approximately 7 different food stations, a very wide variety of fresh food was served including sushi, pasta, grilled meat, shawerma, salads, lamb, fateh and much more. A whole delicious station of sweets with Tamariyet Omar was also available!!
The sushi was so good and the grilled meat was amazingly great! the staff working behind each station were friendly and quite knowledgeable when it came to what they were serving (I'm usually picky when it comes to my meat, best eaten medium rare!)
Overall and taking into consideration the value for money I think I'd give the food a solid 9 out of 10!
The atmosphere of the place was a bit different, too many colors and not really your regular Ramadan themed place. The middle area is beautifully designed with comfy couches and I think pillows...
For people who are worried to miss the Maghreb prayers two praying locations are available for both genders.
Didn't stay long after iftar but the place seemed to be picking up as we were leaving.
I'd go there again and also would consider going there after iftar as well.
Happy Ramadan

I've been there only once with some friends, but never again.

Each paid 10 JD for minimum charge, after ordering water I asked for a drink, I was surprised that the waiter come to me with a bill from the drink.. although the water and drink with the taxes were less than 10 JD!

We had shoor again @ courtyard last night.

I was pleased to try the Shawerma again..it wasn't dry at all, it was really good. Also the cheese wraps (manakeesh) were really good.

This Ramadan the Courtyard excelled in the design and setting...very creative Um Kalthoom theme..

Super surroundings of beautifull Um Kalthoom portraits, creative argeeleh and tarabeesh decorations, ...really nice...and what tops it all the music and singing of a really talented group..What I really love about them that they played all the favorite oldies and they weren't loud.

The shoor menu is really good, especially the falafel.
Although the Shawerma is a little bit dry, but the rest of the items on the menu have a home made touch.

The service was good, but the waiter need to be more focused on taking the orders rather than just speeding up the night. @ a point in time they only took half of the order and ignored the rest of the guests on our table.

All in all recommended for a nice evening for playing cards and shoor.
