Wondering what to eat at 2330 hrs, after nagging for half an hour to a friend about going out to eat, we decided to try out Pastiche Cafe since we were tipped that they have a new beef supplier (as if we need a reason for eating beef!). Never really eaten there though I do remember going there once for the second half of a soccer game and it wasn't a bad atmosphere at all with everyone yelling and cheering!! Getting there we were showed to a table immediately, sat in a section of what seemed to be an all guys section. Nothing against the seating arrangement for the place is really spacious and the clientele was a combination of single guys meeting for an Argeeleh time and coed groups/couples meeting for the same reason! So separating the crowd seems like a good idea that would suit the other gender (females). Wouldn't harm to add a decorative piece of furniture that would limit the view between both sections. Reading the menu it consisted of a huge variety of food that is suitable for any of the three meals of the day (much more than three for me). The place really serves almost all sorts of fast food starting with eggs and ending but not limited to steaks! They also have a great variety of milk shakes and non alcoholic drinks, I couldn't resist trying their cheesecake milkshake which was drank in approximately 4 minutes, if not less. My friend and I decided to share all the food since it consisted of beef and that was one of the reasons why we decided to hit that specific joint; we ordered the following: Cheese sticks as an appetizer: not bad at all, the sauce was cold though and for some reason the waiter seemed to have forgotten that we asked for it before our main course. Classic Cheeseburger: Really tender meat and amazingly soft buns! The plate had two smaller in size cheeseburgers (which I think is considered as one order) with fries on the side; we asked for the fries to be served with cheese which tasted amazing!! I think the chef has his own secret mixture for the sauce on the burger which adds a distinguished sourish flavor to the burger. Creative actually. A slice of medium cooked Pepper Steak: Amazingly tender taking into consideration that it wasn't a really thick slice, juicy as well. The pepper sauce tasted great as well, had a bit of spiciness in the taste which was great. On the side we asked for mashed potatoes which by mistake was replaced with baked a baked potato instead, BUT what makes the experience such a good was that our awesome waiter (A young guy called Mohammad) realized the mistake and quietly, without even mentioning it, walked to us with a plate of mashed potatoes! Not only that, while eating the mashed potatoes we felt the little soft chunks of potatoes which if means anything it means that these were really potatoes and not the commercial powder used at some establishments, mixed with water or milk. Vegetables were also served on the side!!. One comment i need to make is regarding the baked potato, I think it was a bit over cooked... The place played Arabic music the whole time, the kind you'd enjoy during an Argeelah and not the fat beat type... Would have loved it if they played any of Goerge Wassouf's older songs!! It seems that the management of Pastiche Cafe really cares for their establishment, toilets were clean, Pastiche branded tissue boxes on the tables, uniforms for the staff. And surprisingly enough the place was decently filled with at 2330 hrs. Great venue Pastiche!! |

i know i shared my advice before .. but i couldn't help to notice Sharhaan's advice!!! i think that he went there on the weekends that's why it was crowded and he had to call for the waiters twice or more ... but the waiters are doing the best they can to serve everyone as fast as possible ... so "ya36eehom el 3afyeh" =) I've been going to Pastiche for more than a YEAR ... i only face this problem at the weekends but still the staff are very welcoming and every thing is great .. and if there is any thing wrong with the order they will change it for you with an apology =) ohhhh and i'm Happy i Got my Loyalty Card so keep up the good work and wish u all the best =) |

I really like the service in this place can't touch it in other places. Waiters are all around and they look into customer faces not to the sky :-) didn't order food but the drinks were OK. |

Been there a few weeks ago and here is my advice: Atmosphere: vibrant and active: the music selection and level was good. The place is like an active trendy place for Shisha and food, the crowd the good and the waiters were buzzing around serving people. Service: since waiters were buzzing around, unfortunately they ended up ignoring us for a while after we were seated, we had to call them twice to take our order. I was very hungry and my friend needed his daily shisha fix :-) and food took longer than I hoped for! Food: i opted for the Mushroom Steak. Presentation was okay. The steak itself could have been better, but i'm not sure how good can they make it at 7 JDs a plate. But for that price, I guess it was okay. The sauteed veggies weren't sauteed enough, almost raw. That can be improved as it has nothing to do with price. All in all, the experience had mixed feelings, it wasn't good enough that i'll be rushing back there, but in the same time it wasn't bad enough that I wouldn't go back. So I will go back and check other less risky menu items, and hopefully this time the waiters will be more attentive. |

It was almost midnight and we wanted to have some good food. My friend suggested Pastiche so we went to the branch on Mecca street.
We ordered a greek salad and made a special request regarding the dressing, a swiss mushroom burger and steak fajitas.
Our greek salad arrived shortly, nicely presented and the dressing was exactly as we ordered. Fresh veggies and a good amount of fetta cheese, unlike other places that through in a few cubes and call it greek.
My swiss mushroom burger came with crispy delicious fries. I noticed that the burger order comes in two medium sized burgers rather than one. I liked the idea. Quality of meat was good, the bread could be improved and the cheese amount was just right. I didn't like one thing though which is that they have the sauteed mushrooms on the side which meant that I had to open my sandwich and put them in. I ordered a Swiss Mushroom Burger, which means I want my burger with Mushrooms, so please put the mushroom in there from the first place :)
As for the steak fajitas, I had a few bites from my friend and they were delicious.
Good experience, and certainly a good food option in the middle of the night.
Will be returning for more.
