Was really excited when a friend called and told me we'll be meeting at Fakhr El-Din for dinner! Been thinking of Mashawi for a while now and yet it came with the option of tasty appetizers to choose from!!
Was going to take the day off from work just to get ready for all the food I was planing to eat!!

Getting there it was the same old Fakhr El-Din style, this old house in the middle of Jabal Amman giving the scent of history and tradition all in one. Walking in I was surprised not to be met at the entrance by a host as usual to be taken to our table, instead we just walked in and had to look for the table ourselves; and since some of the guys were there already we just looked for them and joined.

Knowing about the reputation of Fakhr El-Din it didn't come to me as a shock seeing how busy they were in a mid week night, most of the tables were occupied and with big party numbers. We had a table in the inner section of the place since we had reservation of 15 people. 19 people showed up and the waiters managed to add an extra table with chairs without annoying the other big party next to us, so hooray waiters!!!

Mr. K (a friend that was having dinner with us) took care of ordering on behalf of us all, he had a colorful table of appetizers ordered and trust me on this, he did a great job!

The food tasted great, I loved the raw diced meat (Kubbeh Niyyeh), the Hommos, their Labaneh and the selection meat and chicken ordered. They have really good chicken balls as well!!

After spending approximately 45 minutes eating the appetizers it was really challenging to order a main course of Mashawi so we decided to pass on that and jump directly to the desserts.

For desserts we had the fresh fruits, dried fruits that seemed to be dipped in liquid sugar (syrup of gattir), qishtah with honey (YUMMY) and some Osmalliyeh I think...

The place can get a bit crowded, tables can get too close to one another but then it is what adds a flavor to the style of the places or makes it feel like a family oriented restaurant. Food was great, desserts were so good and the service was also good. The servers were polite and efficient.

Sorry we missed on the Mashawi Fakhr El-Din, but we'll be back soon!

I cant get enough from Fakher Eddine!! for me it is the best Lebanese restaurant in Amman. Whether for a family event, for business or inviting a foreigner, it is great.
I enjoy every bite and every dish. I cant get enough from the chicken liver plate.
Service is excellent and atmosphere great.
Always a great experience at Fakher Eddine.
Looking forward to my next visit.

Consistently good food and service is an issue with all restaurants in Jordan and Fakhr El Din was no exception. But last Thursday Fakhr El Din redeemed itself completely for any day in the past they may have been mediocre. Last Thursday was the best overall dining experience I’ve had in Jordan in the longest time!

When we walked into the restaurants, every staff member we passed on our way to our table greeted us warmly. Although they were expecting a full house, they asked us to pick the table that suited us most for the number of people at our table – very rare in most restaurants that usually pre-assign tables and give you a hard time switching to the same size table in another location.

Our waiter was so patient and very helpful in helping us select menu items – he didn’t rush us even though tables were quickly filling up.

The food was SPECTACULAR! Fakhr El Din at its best… EVER. The muttabal was well smoked with a good balance of tahini, lemon and seasoning. The pomegranate seeds added a slight sweetness that tasted amazing. The beiruti hummos was perfectly soured with just the right amount of parsley to round up the flavor. Chicken livers in pomegranate syrup were made well and the kubbeh nayyeh was fresh flawless! We also ordered a kubbeh pie that was crispy from the outside and warmly spiced from the inside. The kebab was lean and the eggplants that we ordered with it were cooked till tender – other places tend to undercook eggplants. The “piece de resistance” was stacked grilled eggplant layered with akawi cheese and avocado drizzled with pomegranate syrup – it was my absolute favorite for the evening! We ended the evening with fragrant and not too sweet mohalabieh served with honey and pistachio nuts and halawet il jibin that was fluffy and fresh. It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal.

The bread was quickly replenished with hot fresh one that never seemed to dry up like they used to. The argileh guy passed by frequently to fix the coal and the coffee guy was always near to serve coffee with a smile. The waiters were attentive even when the restaurant full and buzzing. They are all clearly very well trained and passionate. The combination of exceptional service and outstanding food made it the best overall dining experience we all had in the longest time! I hope Fakhr El Din keeps this up and I also hope the owners invest the same way in their other restaurants.
